The annual leave calculator takes your hire date and computes, per Article 60 of Korea's Labor Standards Act, how many paid annual leave days you've accrued to date.

How annual leave accrues

In your first year, you earn 1 day of leave for each month of perfect attendance (up to 11 days). Once you pass one year of tenure, you're granted 15 days, and starting from your third year, 1 additional day is added every 2 years, up to a maximum of 25 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do part-time workers with under a year of tenure get annual leave?

Yes — at workplaces with 5 or more regular employees, all workers (regardless of full-time, contract, or part-time status) earn 1 day of leave per month of perfect attendance.

What happens if I don't use my annual leave?

Unused leave can generally be cashed out as an allowance, unless the employer has lawfully carried out the leave-encouragement procedure, in which case that obligation may be waived.

What's the difference between fiscal-year basis and hire-date basis?

This calculator uses the hire-date basis. Many companies grant leave uniformly on a fiscal-year basis (each January 1) for administrative convenience, which must not disadvantage employees compared to the hire-date method.

* * The paid annual leave rule doesn't apply to workplaces with fewer than 5 employees.
